Zimdancehall star Hwinza escaped an ambush in Cape Town.
Zimdancehall star Hwinza, whose real name is Simbarashe Magado, recently escaped an ambush by unidentified men at Cape Town International Airport.
The attackers abducted promoter Royce and attempted to seize Hwinza, but he and his manager managed to flee to safety.
Sources claim the individuals involved in the ambush are well-known criminal elements operating in and around Cape Town, allegedly part of a syndicate that targets Zimbabwean-organized events and are infamously known as the self-proclaimed security team of the Cape Town Promoters Association.
Cape Town has experienced various safety issues, including syndicates targeting specific groups or individuals.
Recent incidents include a Nigerian syndicate involved in romance scams and financial fraud busted by the Hawks and US law enforcement, and a "Grindr Gang" syndicate that targeted gay and bisexual men was also dismantled, with several suspects arrested and facing charges
This incident highlights safety concerns in Cape Town, particularly for high-profile visitors.
Hwinza has had previous close calls, including a bus accident in December 2020 and a car crash in March 2022.
Despite these challenges, he has continued to thrive in the music industry, known for hits like "Lula Lula" and "Sombonyo".
Hwinza's journey to stardom hasn't been smooth, and he has been open about his past struggles, including substance abuse and tumultuous relationships.
However, he claims to have turned over a new leaf after seeking counsel from family elders .
